Call to Poets
FALL INVITATIONAL: IN CONVERSATION II
Building on the success of the Coast Collective’s first collaboration between poets and painters in 2015, the region’s poets will again inspire a talented cadre of artists to create original works for this important exhibition.
This invitational exhibit is part of the Coast Collective’s 8th anniversary celebration and fundraising activities in support of the Society for Arts on the South Island, the arts non-profit which operates the Coast Collective Art Centre.
This is an open call to poets to submit writing for this upcoming invitational fine art show. All written works will be distributed to a group of invited artists to create accompanying visual art. Poems and art will be displayed side by side for this exhibit. A number of poets will be invited to present their poems and artists who have interpreted those poems will be invited to explain their visual interpretations of the writing at our opening reception on Friday, October 7th from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All of the poetry and images inspired by them will be included in a special limited edition catalogue that will be available for sale during the show to celebrate the unique collaboration, and afterward as part of the Coast Collective’s fundraising activities.
