The launch and reading for Sooke Writes – Anthology Four was held on May 28th in the pavilion at the Sooke Region Museum. A fine crowd turned out to hear some of our authors read.
Part of our drive to create a print anthology is our annual EMCS Student Writing Contest. Students from Edward Milne Community School write “live” using a list of prompts for inspiration. For the past four years the winners have been published in our anthology and receive cash prizes.
This year’s winners:
Poetry
Arran Wass-Little (first prize)
Benjamin Borsellino (second prize)
Olivia Aloma (honourable mention)
Fiction
Michael Ross (first prize)
Jordyn Borsellino (second prize)
Jessica Thompson (honourable mention)
Below are a few shots of the events and quotes from some of the stories in the anthology. Enjoy. The book is available for purchase at local shops in Sooke – Sooke Region Museum gift shop, Well Read Books,Artisan’s Garden, Barking Dog Studio – and here on the website.
