towards a year end “accounting”

We are slowly making our way to the end of 2015. For those who need a little inspiration for their writing – some advice from “brain pickings” –
Famous Advice on Writing: The Collected Wisdom of Great Writers

Advice and inspiration can mobilize the pen and get us writing but ultimately it is up to us to “show up” – to put pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard and tell our stories.  Collective members are gathering their thoughts and forming them into poems and stories.  We are working towards a 2016 anthology and our annual student writing contest.

Sooke Writers’  Collective has published two anthologies : “Scribblers” and “Words & Imaginings” – order online or buy locally at Barking Door Studio, The Reading Room, Well Read Books and the Sooke Region Museum.

Our next meeting is November 4th at 6:30 in the Sooke Library.  New members, ideas and inspiration are always welcome.

And to those in and around  Sooke – we are always searching out alternate meeting spaces for evening gatherings – places we can have coffee, discussions and readings. Ideas? Please contact us.

Our Mission

To provide support, connection, inspiration and encouragement to writers* at all levels of development in the Sooke region through membership services which include monthly meetings and community outreach in the form of student writing contests, workshops and readings.

*please note this group is for adults
