Into 2017

It time for a refresher of sorts as we head into 2017.

Sooke TypesThe collective’s mandate is to provide support, connection, inspiration and encouragement to writers* at all levels of development in the Sooke region.

We do this by having monthly meetings where we discuss our writing progress, pose questions, seek advice and sometimes listen to guest speakers. In addition, we plan feedback sessions for any member who wants support for their writing.

We meet so we do not write “alone”. It’s not that we write together but by getting together on a regular basis we provide support and connection for writers. This can also inspire and led energy to the impulse for writing.

As we move in 2017 a number of projects will start to gain momentum:

  • the development of our fourth anthology of stories, poems and other forms of writing
  •  our writing contest for students of Edward Milne Community School
  • program development for the collective in the form of speakers and other forms of learning
  • a private members-only forum to stay connected
  • feedback sessions

Poet Mary Oliver asks “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Sooke Writers’ Collective asks “What is it you plan to do with your writing life?

We next meet on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:30 pm in the Sooke Library. Come share some of your writing life.
